Cliona, granddaughter of Alec and Maren McBarnet of Upcountry, Maui, will be celebrating her 16th birthday during the Oskie Rice Memorial Rodeo weekend, a milestone that holds special meaning for her and her family. Her love of horses began when she was just three years old, and she has dedicated countless hours to honing her skills both in and out of the rodeo arena. At the age of ten, Cliona started competing in rodeos, where she quickly earned a reputation for her determination, sportsmanship, and courage.

Beyond her accomplishments on horseback, Cliona is committed to making a difference in her community. Balancing her academics as a high school student at Haleakala Waldorf High School, she volunteers at her family’s business, Maui Oil, gaining valuable work experience and contributing to the family legacy. Once a month she can be found serving dinner at her local church, where she enjoys connecting with community members and giving back.

Cliona believes that being named Oskie Rice Memorial Princess gives her a platform to share her deep passion for the Paniolo heritage and the sport of rodeo. She is eager to help preserve the values and traditions that are so important to her, and to introduce the next generation to the unique spirit of the Hawaiian paniolo. Through her actions and example, Cliona aspires to leave a legacy of kindness, confidence, and leadership, inspiring others to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact on the world around them.
