Holding the title of the 2026, 4th of July Makawao Stampede Queen is Kula resident, Alyson Panglao. Alyson is the daughter of Malia and Jayson Panglao, and a graduate of King Kekaulike High School. In recent years, Alyson has furthered her education at Chapman University, studying Health Science and aspiring to become a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.

Alyson’s equestrian journey began at the age of 5, when she trained and competed in English riding, specifically in the area of Hunter/Jumper classes. In High School, Alyson transitioned to rodeo, where she competed in Barrel Racing, Pole Bending, Goat Tying, Cutting, and Working Cowhorse. In 2019, Alyson qualified to compete at the Hawaii High School Rodeo State Finals in Goat Tying and represented Maui District as she participated in the Queen’s Contest.

Through Alyson’s strong equestrian roots, she gained employment working at a private ranch, caring for animals, and being a steward of the land. Regarding her title, Alyson shared, “This role represents an opportunity to give back to the town that shaped me. I want to represent the Stampede with the same professionalism and grace that the event itself exhibits, ensuring that we continue to be recognized as one of the most prestigious and successful rodeos in Hawai’i while remaining a welcoming, family-oriented tradition.” Alyson hopes to be remembered for her commitment to service and her desire to empower women to understand that they can be both cowgirls and community leaders.

Alyson would like to thank her family for their ongoing support throughout her endeavors both in the arena and beyond. She would also like to thank the Miranda and Masada ‘ohanas for being a big part of her journey in High School Rodeo, and Aunty Mai and the Makawao Stampede organizers for this opportunity.
