Meet Henry Rice, third-generation Paniolo at Kaonoulu Ranch and the proud son of Oskie Rice. In this short video, discover how the Oskie Rice Memorial Rodeo came to life with Oskie’s heartfelt gift of land and the formation of the Maui Roping Club in 1956. Henry’s story is one of family, tradition, and the strong sense of community that continues to thrive at the heart of Maui’s Paniolo culture.

Oskie Rice Memorial 2026 Rodeo Weekend
FRIDAY, October 23rd, the Bull Bash features professional Bull Riders competing on some of the most challenging bulls in the Pacific at 6pm. Catch Match Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, Mutton Busting, and more. The gates open at 3pm for pre-rodeo entertainment in the Fan Field with food, local vendors, and DJ Boomshot’s Country Mash-up from 4-5:45pm.
SATURDAY, October 24th, the Saturday Night Memorial Rodeo Performance begins at 6pm and showcases Bull and Bronc Riding, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and more traditional Rodeo events. The gates open at 3pm for pre-rodeo entertainment with family fun in the Fan Field and live music with 808Vibez from 4-5:45pm.
SUNDAY, October 25th, the weekend’s top competitors battle for buckles in extreme Rodeo events. Watch as Paniolo compete in Bull Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Team Roping, and more at the Championship Rodeo beginning at 1pm. Everyone is invited to attend Cowboy Church at 10am in the Grandstands. The gates open at 11am for pre-rodeo entertainment in the Fan Field featuring cultural demonstrations and special performances as part of the Festivals of Aloha.
